The United States Supreme Court terminated the 2013 Texas pro-life law in a 5-3 decision.
Justice Stephen Breyer wrote the majority opinion for the court, with Justices Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joining him. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented. Of course, had Justice Antonin Scalia been alive, it would have been another 5-4.
The law required doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and also established tougher standards for the clinics.
