Can you handle another helping of lean meat? I hope so, because more needs to be served up immediately. This bowl is true comfort food.
Who doesn’t want security? We all seek physical, financial, and relational assurances that we will not be harmed, broke, or abandoned. But the greatest security of all is the spiritual one that God offers to those whom He has chosen to become His children.
Yes, yes, I can hear all the Calvinist-haters chortling now. But I am not inherently a Calvinist, I am a biblicist first and foremost. It just so happens that John Calvin’s five points of TULIP agree with my Bible, so call me a Calvinist if you must.
Total Depravity…All men are born sinners and are unable to save themselves.
Unconditional Election…God chose whom He would save.
Limited Atonement…God will save those whom He chose.
Irresistible Grace…Those whom God chose will respond and be saved.
Perseverance of the Saints…All those whom God chose, and saved, will be brought to the Father and presented as saved!
Biblical truths found within the TULIP acronym incite many arguments. Generally these disputes are based on an individual’s personal dislike for God’s way of doing things. My take is that God can do what He pleases, when He pleases, and however He pleases because, as the Apostle John wrote about God: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)
Likewise I have no argument with the Apostle Paul’s writing: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
If you were chosen to receive salvation, through the sacrifice that God the Son made in dying on the cross of Calvary, then you will be saved, and you will remain so forever. Your salvation is secure. In fact it has been sealed by the Spirit of God, guaranteed never to be revoked.
Enough said! Now get busy living for Jesus and stop wasting time with unbiblical arguments that only serve to discourage Believers, leading them to despair over issues long ago settled.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-30/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!
