Father’s Work

Biological offspring do not make a man a father. Millions of children in the United States don’t have a “father,” because work makes fathers, and too many men choose not to work!

My own father worked since he was a young boy, in a print shop, picking potatoes and apples, and painting houses. As a teen my husband was already working regular hours cutting lawns and bagging groceries. One of my grown sons works from dawn to dusk, sometimes all through the night to provide for his children. Another son has children that he does not “father.” Instead he has abandoned the care and provision of his three offspring to their mothers and replacement “dads.” I will say that I do appreciate the men who have stepped into my grandson’s lives to give them examples of a working dad.

Talk is cheap, and failed promises are a detriment to children and their connections to their biological dads. Dads that work may be short on words, but they are long on example. We should all appreciate our hard working dads, and tell them so often.

“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.” (Proverbs 23:24 ESV)

The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!

Wow Caiden. Seems like your echo chamber is empty these days. Other than your own toady columnists, e.g., the discredited nut job Bryan and the equally kooky pentacostal wing nut female, your fan base seems to have grown up and moved on. Maybe you need to turn up the notch on your ridiculously inflammatory rhetoric now that gay marriage will be legal and the clown car of Republicans you so love virtually guarantees at least one more term of a Demo president. Maybe you’ll come to your senses like your former love interest Jonathan, who’s now a pretty cool kid. We can only hope. #comeoutCaiden

“the equally kooky pentacostal wing nut female”…if you were referring to me you are mistaken. I am a life long Baptist. I hope that clarifies my posts a little better for you.

    James,
Your nut job friends have left here because the truth of the Word of God is spoken here. The truth will set you free from the bondage of sin and shame. Homosexuality is a sin, Just like adultery. You are in bondage if you allow this sin in your life. Isn’t that why there is such a sadistic nature to Homosexuality? Because you are all about celebrating your bondage. Here is some scripture for you as well. May these words Cut to your very Marrow. You and your kind were prophecied in the Bible some 2000 years ago…There is nothing new under the sun.

26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1)

And what are those who don’t believe in God supposed to do? Throw in the towel and just go with it because you say so?

Its not about me Dan. It is about you and your relation to God. What are you supposed to do? Repent of your sins and Receive Jesus and his forgiveness for those sins.
Or you are more than welcome to pay the price for those sins yourself. You see, that is what Jesus did for you on the cross, He took on himself the penalty for our sins which a Just God requires of us, “Him who knew no sin”; And he bore those sins on the cross. This is Grace, Unmerited favor. All you have to do is receive that gift. Quickly, then, with the realization of how grievous your sin is you will turn away from it. He will help you with that.

See, there really is no such thing as “atheism”. You either serve God or you serve the creature (idols, nature, created things). That is the heart of the matter…as the Old Dylan song says, “You’ve got to serve somebody….It may be the devil, or it may be the Lord.” There is no hope, and no salvation when you serve someone other than the Lord.

The more you reject the Lord and continue to live in rebellion to him, the worse your actions will become. We see it on the news nearly everyday now since they took prayer out of the schools.

Christianity (the real kind, not the country club churchianity you see everywhere) is about your relationship to the creator God. It is about being MADE Holy by Him over the course of a lifetime. Becoming a New creation in Christ Jesus. But it begins with repentance and receiving his grace, and then walking with him the rest of your life. You will not be made Holy overnight as this takes time. Do not wait till your on your deathbed.

Prove there was ever a Divine Lord, Jesus and a Holy Cross and I may go along with you. Asking for blind devotion, ignorance in the lack of evidence and the criminal persecution of people who like who they like makes ‘God’ sound like a tyrant, a bully, a control freak who throws his toys out the pram whenever people disrepect him. Kind of a pathetic CV for a creator of all things. He could be solving hunger, disease or the causes of conflict. Instead he threatens genocide whenever his plan goes off track.
If I were to *ever* ask ‘God’s’ help for anything I would come to that choice by myself whatever the reason or cause. I refuse to be sucked into a vortex of hatred and bigotry where ‘loving’ Christians/Muslims/Jews/etc give me excuses where its okay to kill, discriminate and pour scorn at every working Joe.

    Dan,
God Loves you, and he sent his Son to die for your sins. If that is being a bully, and a tyrant, then you are confused. (A debased mind as the Paul the apostle calls it).
Here is another way of stating it.
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
The Word here that you need to hear is “Perish”. YOU WILL one day die, and there is nothing you of your own will and actions can do about it. Knowing this, you only know how to love your self, and serve yourself. This to me is foolishness, but to the world it is wisdom. Unfortunately, in this world, there are people with more power, and more guns than you have, and they too love themselves and serve themselves. So they are the ones by their self love that are bringing hunger, poverty, and conflict to this world. And Without God, all these things will continue as they have. This country has been unique in that it WAS built on God given rights, and God given morality. Now God has been pushed aside, and the liberty we had from sin has become the liberty TO sin. The next step in this decline is for all Hell to be loosed. We believers warned this country of this, when they took prayer out of schools. When they said it was Ok to sacrifice The lives of children for convenience. And now when man is daring to change the natural created order of marriage, against the will of God. In a sense, the prophecy of man declaring himself god is becoming true in this country. And this spite in the face of The Almighty God demands his wrath. He is a Loving and merciful God, but he is also a Just God. I would be lying if I told you otherwise. So, that is your choice, to perish, or to receive his Love, and mercy in humility knowing that you do not deserve it. Remember his Justice demands your death.
Let me quote some scriptures, some of which you have heard I am sure.

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” (John 3:16-21)
