Immediately after the shooting in a South Carolina church, politicians and racial agitators rushed to media microphones to enrich their coffers and stoke the hatred of their loyal followers. Presidential candidate Ben Carson took a distinctly different approach.
Yesterday Dr. Carson spoke of the divisions being built throughout our nation. Racial, economic, religious, and personal-choice based differences, naturally occurring in a healthy pluralistic society, are being exploited to make a few men and women rich and powerful. All this anger, covetousness, and revenge-inciting is done at the expense of the security, happiness, and success of families who just want to live and work in peace.
In an interview with Fox New’s Megyn Kelly, Dr. Carson not only demonstrated his ability to lead in a crisis, he clarified the matter at hand, and comforted all who would respond to truth saying, “I think we have to start going to the heart of the matter. The heart of the matter is not guns. The heart of the matter is the heart, the heart and soul of people.”
Earlier this year personal friends from India inquired as to how a non-politician, like Dr. Ben Carson, could succeed in a run for the presidency of the United States. I explained that I was supporting the Dr. because I believe he is a wise Christian. His wisdom qualifies him for leadership. And of course it is God who installs leaders (Daniel 2:21).
I am hoping to have the opportunity to vote for a wise Christ-following leader once again in this nation.
“To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance…” (Proverbs 1:1-5/ESV)
The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christ-followers to see God’s Big Picture and be a part of it. Adonai Eloheinu!
